Sulphur Point boat ramp and groyne with Mauao behind
Sulphur Point, Tauranga Harbour

Sulphur Point is an erosion protection structure on the Tauranga harbour edge. The work covered maintenance and upgrade of the rock groyne, including repositioning the concrete pathway along it to improve access for the Tauranga Yacht Club and its members.

Marine and coastal work brings its own constraints. Tides, weather windows and public access all shape what can be built and when.

What I did on this project

  • Drafted the contract documentation
  • Coordinated the design and the stakeholder requirements with the council and the yacht club
  • Administered the contract on site as Engineer’s Representative
